Valentine Nebraska: Small Town. Big Adventure.
Share
Are you looking for a summer adventure!? Look no further than Valentine, Nebraska, rated one of “America’s 100 Best Adventure Towns” by National Geographic.
It’s no wonder Valentine is known as “water and waterfall city” in the Lakota language as it is the place to come to see some of Nebraska’s most amazing waterfalls, including the State’s tallest, widest, and largest by volume!
Go down the Niobrara River—kick your feet up and float down the real-life lazy river on an inner tube, or pick up the pace in a kayak or canoe. If you’re really adventurous, call the local Outfitters and ask about *tanking* down the river! You won’t be sorry. After all, the Niobrara River is certified as North America's very first "Quiet Trail", and only the second in the world!
Lake hair? Don’t care. Enjoy time at Merritt Reservoir boating, swimming, or fishing.
Speaking of, did we mention that Valentine is home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the country? You may even run into one of the Duck Dynasty boys while you’re out and about!
Merritt is also a Certified International Dark Sky, which makes it home to the annual Nebraska Star Party—a star gazing event held every July due to the unobstructed view of the night sky, free of light pollution! The Star Party is a hub for stargazers from around to world, professional and amateur, to gather and share their love for the nightscape, enjoying one of the darkest and best star gazing locations in the world!
Stay off the grid at any of the relaxing cabins in our area.
Schedule tee time at some of the most beautiful golf courses you’ve ever seen. Reserve your date at the renowned Prairie Club—containing two of the top rated courses in the US, or tee off at our amazing ten hole course, Frederick Peak, built into a canyon landscape that has been carved out by the Minnechaduza Creek.
When you’re ready to get out of the sun, hit up Bolo Beer’s taproom and sample all their tasty local brews. Head just west of Valentine for a little wine tasting at Niobrara Valley Vineyards, then grab some Sandhills gourmet vinegar at George Paul Vinegar on your way back to town (and find out for yourself what all the Hollywood stars are talking about).
Dine out at any of our amazing restaurants, spend some time on Valentine’s adorable Main Street, and shop the amazing variety of locally owned shops. And make sure you grab all the perfect Valentine souvenirs right here at Broken Spoke Boutique! 😉
