Every spring, more than half a million Sandhills Cranes return to Nebraska, filling the skies with their haunting calls and graceful dances. Standing nearly four feet tall with six-foot wingspans, these ancient travelers have followed the same migration path for as long as history has been recorded. In the Sandhills, they rest and refuel on leftover corn in the fields and gather at nearby wetlands, a timeless reminder of the incredible beauty woven into life here on the Plains.
